This activity uses the graphic that was created for activity 5. It is intended to be used with students at a grade 3-5 level. The students will be looking at each shape, and explaining why that shape is the one that does not belong to the set. They will be using full sentences to explain themselves.
Part of the learning goal is for students to understand how objects can be classified according to mathematical concepts. Another equally important goal is for students to be able to explain themselves using clear and precise language.
I think this would work well online. Perhaps after an online lesson and looking at other examples, this could be used as summative assessment. Alternatively, it could be used as formative assessment at the beginning of a lesson.
